U.S-led women empowerment program in Taiwan to focus on tech training

The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), a program initiated and run by the United States government, began accepting applications Tuesday for the 2022 training program in Taiwan, which will be geared toward the technology sector.

On the evening of March 8, President Tsai Ing-wen attended the Women’s Power Night reception, marking the opening of Taiwan Gender Equality Week 2022. In remarks at the event, President Tsai said that Taiwan stands at the forefront of efforts to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment, and stated that Taiwan will continue to pursue broad engagement with like-minded nations and international organizations toward these goals.

MOFA and NGO to launch Taiwan Gender Equality Week on International Women’s Day

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the nongovernmental organization (NGO) the Foundation of Women’s Rights Promotion and Development (FWRPD) are jointly holding Taiwan Gender Equality Week (TGEW) for a third year running. The timing of the program again corresponds with the annual meeting in March of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW).
